All-Region Band Tryouts

Once marching season's done and past,
All-Region Try-outs come on fast,
This year I might make it, at last.

We got the music months ago,
I've had no time, progress was slow,
Now there are just four weeks to go.

Not just one piece, no, there are three,
And look at all those flats! Oh, Gee!
Is A-flat minor a real key?

The notes go way up in the sky,
I've never learned to play that high,
I'll take a deep breath, blow and try.

My private teacher shakes his head,
"Sounds like your horn is made of lead.",
I wish I'd taken art instead.

I have tried-out two times before,
I didn't make it and what's more,
The judge gave me a real low score.

My secret hope still remains clear,
The big hope of my band career,
To make last chair by senior year.
