SOUSAPHONES!
(Poem for Caryn)
(after E.A. Poe's The Bells)
See them playing on their 'phones! Sousaphones!
Marching down the street while blowing deep bass oompah tones,
With their bodies wrapped in brass and with a weary face that tells,
How their shoulders feel the weight of those huge twenty-six inch bells!
On they march, march, march, though the town square, past the arch,
But while they love to play the tuba, now they wish they played trombones!
And not 'phones, 'phones, 'phones, 'phones, phones, 'phones, 'phones!
And not big, brass, awkward, heavy, Sousaphones!
